Best Truck Book I Have Read So Far April 8, 2009 Don E. Rainwater (Sheridan, Wy) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
My parents are truck drivers and I have always been interested in their line of work. I picked up this book because it was recommended by several truck drivers I know. The book is easy to read and is a wealth of information about the truck driving industry. It also details tips and the do's and do nots of the road on a day to day basis. If you are going to run into trouble on the highway while trying to make a living, then this is the book for you. The section on how to back into a tight parking spot at a truck stop is priceless to the experienced or novice truck driver. So if you ever though about life driving the big rigs or you want a good book full of driving tips and living on the road advice, this book is for you.
Outstanding! May 13, 2009 JeffD (Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is a great idea. I bought it for my neighbor who is going to school to be a truck driver, and it seems to have all the essentials to get started. Even for someone who's an experienced driver, these are great tips on how to stay safe on the road. All the in's and outs - from knowing the mechanics of the truck you're driving, to some true stories of life on the road. You don't realize how much goes into a job like this. Even if you're considering a life on the road, this book may help you decide if you've got what it takes.
Finally, a book that explains in detail how to back a tractor trailer July 12, 2009 Thomas J. Fenzel (MA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am changing careers into truck driving as I am 52 and my previous jobs keep migrating over seas. In the past, I bought a few books on how to drive a tractor trailer. Even though those books were good, they did not go into the detail of backing that I needed to understand. The previous books we very limited in the description on how to perform backing. I found that "The Tractor Trailer Book" explained very well the methods of backing in different types of situations. The book also describes the essentials of driving in the categories of shifting, highway driving, city driving, and attitude among other important driving concepts. I would very much recommend this book to new drivers and even experienced drivers that need more help on their backing techniques.

This Should Be A Required Text Book! August 19, 2009 J. Firari (Nashville, TN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been to CDL school and this would have been a great tool during backing practice on the range! The information on backing is spot on and the diagrams are well done! This is a great book for someone just learning to drive a truck and the added "real world" comments will keep you out of trouble. I'm donating my copy to my school, I hope they add this book as a required text.
